A POLICE helicopter was deployed in Glasgow city centre last night as four people scaled to the top of the wreckage of a fire-damaged nightclub.

The incident unfolded at approximately 8.20pm at the 02 ABC venue on Sauchiehall Street.

A spokesperson from Police Scotland said: "Police received a report of four people entering a building on Sauchiehall Street.

"Officers attended and four males, aged 16, two aged 17, and one aged 22, were arrested and charged in connection with the incident."

A thermal image captured from the police helicopter shows four people climbing precariously on the nightclub's partially caved roof.

The venue has been derelict and in disarray since June 2018 when a fire, which started in Glasgow School of Art, caused significant damage.

A tweet posted by Police Scotland Air Unit read: “Police Helicopter assisting Glasgow City Centre Police and Police Scotland Control Rooms with 4 people climbing on the roof of fire damaged nightclub Campus, Sauchiehall Street.

“All 4 safe and with Police.”
