THE SNP’s depute leader, Keith Brown, has said that Scotland has fewer than 10 weeks to put its future firmly in its own hands – not Boris Johnson’s.

It comes as the party launched its digital weekend of action urging activists to share a digital leaflet with 20 other people – potentially reaching 2.5 million voters.

The leaflet is easily shareable on several social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram, spreading the message that Scotland must have the right to choose its own future in a post-pandemic referendum.

With door-to-door campaigning unlikely prior to the May election, the SNP has moved quickly to online campaigning ahead of the election and Brown believes the new leaflet will help get the party’s key messages across.

He said: “The election in May will be unique in many ways, the pandemic being one. That is why we are challenging our activists who would usually be pounding the streets up and down Scotland to share our digital leaflet with at least 20 people – spreading the SNP’s message to 2.5m voters.

“The weeks will quickly tick down towards May 6 and we have less than 10 weeks to put Scotland’s future in Scotland’s hands.

“Thanks to the efforts of everyone in Scotland and the vaccine roll-out we know better times lie ahead. The question then is who will decide the kind of country we should be after this crisis – all of us who live here or Boris Johnson?

“That means we need to get the message across that Scotland can no longer afford Brexiteer Tory governments we don’t vote for. Scotland has the right to choose its own future in a post-pandemic referendum.

“The only way to guarantee that happens is with both votes in the election going to the SNP, to deliver a majority and making Boris Johnson’s bid to block Scotland’s democratic right utterly untenable,” Brown added.

“We have an incredible opportunity to shape Scotland’s future and we have less than ten weeks to make it happen.

“Make sure to spread the message that it is the people of Scotland who will decide our future – not Boris Johnson.”
