ALEX Salmond is due to appear before a Holyrood inquiry today to give evidence.
The inquiry, tasked with investigating the botched handling of harassment complaints against the former First Minister that ultimately cost the taxpayer more than £500,000, will hear Salmond speak later today.
The former SNP leader had been due to appear on Wednesday, but he pulled out after the Government accepted Crown Office advice and redacted passages of his submission, meaning they cannot be referenced during his appearance later.
His testimony is expected to be explosive, accusing First Minister Nicola Sturgeon of misleading parliament.

Salmond will also accuse several people across the highest levels of government and the SNP of being part of a conspiracy against him, a word he has avoided in his submission but heavily implied.
The former First Minister has alleged a “malicious and concerted” attempt to see him removed from public life, and described the Crown Office – the body responsible for prosecuting crimes in Scotland – as “simply not fit for purpose”.
However, Sturgeon has said there is "not a shred of evidence" of these claims, and has said the issue is about Salmond's "ego".
So when will Holyrood’s Committee on the Scottish Government Handling of Harassment Complaints quiz the former First Minister? And where will you be able to watch it for yourself?

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
