WE'RE looking for a journalist who lives and breathes Scottish politics to join the team at one of the fastest-growing newspapers in the country.

The National now has more than 12,000 subscribers, and we’re investing in content ahead of one of the biggest elections in Scotland’s history.

You will be expected to deliver exclusive news stories and investigations which set the agenda in Scotland and beyond, working within a small team of like-minded journalists to deliver content which will drive subscriptions, print sales and help us reach new audiences.

You will also be a digital native – an expert in social media who knows how to tell stories creatively for an online audience of more than 3 million people every month. Experience working in audio or video formats would be helpful, but not necessary.

You’ll be able to provide expert analysis and opinion on the latest political twists and turns, explaining to our audiences why it matters. An encyclopaedic knowledge of Scottish politics and the constitutional question is required, and your contacts book will be packed with interesting people who want to talk about Scotland’s present and future.

At least two years’ experience working in a newsroom is desirable, but an up-to-date qualification in Scots law and knowledge of all levels of government is essential.

You could be based full-time at Holyrood or in Glasgow. Salary depends on experience.
