MARGARET Ferrier has appeared in court after being charged with culpable and reckless conduct.

The MP for Rutherglen and Hamilton West was arrested last month and charged after allegedly breaching coronavirus rules.

It's claimed the politician made a trip from Glasgow to the House of Commons while waiting for results of a Covid-19 test – and a return journey after being informed she had the virus.

Ferrier submitted no plea. She was committed for further examination and released on bail. No date has been set for the next stage of the court case.

In October, the Metropolitan Police said they would take “no further action” against the MP following an investigation.

Ferrier has so far resisted pressure to resign as an MP and sits as an independent after the SNP removed the whip.
