VANESSA Hudgens has been spotted filming the third instalment of the Princess Switch series in Scotland.

A National reader told us crews for the Netflix film were seen at Newbattle Abbey College near Dalkeith in Midlothian this morning.

The reader, who wanted to remain anonymous, said the crew have been filming since January 7 but they have been there since before Christmas.

They added: "I can confirm that they are filming at Newbattle Abbey College right now and Vanessa Hudgens is here.

"They have been filming since Thursday of last week but have been here since before Christmas.

Newbattle Abbey College was used to recreate Montenaro Castle in the second film, which was released on Netflix in November last year.

It is expected that the cast will head to Edinburgh’s Hopetoun House in South Queensferry later today.

The National:

Oliver Dowden, the UK's Culture Secretary said people should work from home but exemptions include "for training and rehearsal of performances, recording studios and film and TV production".

A spokesperson for Netflix told The National: "All our productions adhere to the strictest Covid guidelines and follow the British Film Commission safe working protocols."

The protocols include social distancing, hand washing and Covid symptom checks.

The Scottish Government has said film and TV production can continue operating at all levels in Scotland but they should be done "with the minimum number of people needed to operate safely and effectively".

The previous Princess Switch movie was filmed at various locations in Edinburgh and Glasgow between December 2019 and January 2020.
