THE Home Secretary should stop Donald Trump from entering the UK if he comes here after leaving office, Humza Yousaf has said.

Scotland’s Justice Secretary called on Priti Patel to prevent the US president from entering the UK after horrifying scenes in Washington last night.

Trump supporters – many of them armed – falsely claiming the election was rigged, stormed the Capitol buildings as lawmakers met to certify Joe Biden’s election win.

One protester was shot dead by police, while three others died of “medical emergencies”. Some 52 people were arrested, most of them for breaking the 6pm curfew put in place during the chaos by the Washington mayor.

Immediately ahead of the violence yesterday Trump told thousands of his supporters gathered in Washington DC that "we will never concede" the presidential election.

Trump addressed a "Save America" rally on the Ellipse, just south of the White House, following speeches by his sons Eric and Donald Jr.

Trump also tweeted to his 88 million followers: "Get smart Republicans. FIGHT!"

After some time the president finally asked his supporters to go home but said “we love you” and repeated the false claims about the election being stolen in his message.

The National:

This morning First Minister Nicola Sturgeon condemned the violence, saying we witnessed Trump  “inciting insurrection” in the United States.

She told Good Morning Britain: "In some senses Donald Trump’s presidency has been moving towards this moment almost since the moment it started. But that doesn’t make it any less shocking.

"What we witnessed weren’t just scenes of horrible breaches of law and order, of people taking over the seat of democracy, we actually witnessed the president of the Untied States inciting insurrection in his own country.”

Now the Justice Secretary has said “serious consideration” should be given to stopping Trump from entering the UK if he attempts to come here after leaving the White House.

It had been rumoured that Trump is planning to come to his Turnberry resort in Ayrshire, Scotland, ahead of the inauguration.

It was reported that Prestwick had been primed to take a plane sometimes used by Trump a day before Biden becomes president, but the airport and White House have downplayed the rumours.

Yousaf told Twitter this morning: “Once he leaves Office if Trump tries to come to UK the Home Sect should give serious consideration to denying him entry, she has the power if an applicant's presence is not conducive to the public good.

“Trump's default is to stir up racial tension & yday he incited a violent mob,” he wrote.
