The National:

THE Tories are up two points in the latest Westminster polling, according to YouGov, while Labour stall with no change to their support.

Between December 15-16 the firm asked voters who they’d back if there was a General Election tomorrow. Support for the Conservatives was up with 39%, while Labour were behind with 37%.

Labour had seen some increased support in recent weeks, reaching as high as 40% in November, but it seems they are now plateauing. Meanwhile the Tories have seen their highest rating since mid-October.

The latest data won’t be welcomed by Keir Starmer and co, who yesterday made big promises to give areas outside of Westminster more power and announced a new constitutional commission to be launched by Gordon Brown.

Starmer said he would “argue passionately” against a new Scottish independence vote and “play a key role in defeating the forces of separatism”.

The problem for him, of course, is he would actually have to get elected for that to happen. And even with this disgraceful Conservative Government in place, Labour are stalling. Again.

As we all know England decides who wins General Elections and it seems that right now most of England is pretty happy with the Tories setting the entire country alight for the sake of Brexit.

Scotland shouldn’t have to rely on England changing its mind – we should get the governments we vote for. It’s as simple as that.

And we aren’t supporting Labour at Holyrood or Westminster, according to the latest polling. More devolution can’t be the answer.

Labour want to give the UK more powers outside of London. But they can’t even get power for themselves.
