THE SNP has accused Scotland’s Tory MPs of failing to stand up for the interests of the country in votes on major issues in Westminster.

Mhairi Black, the SNP shadow Scotland secretary, said records show Douglas Ross and his colleagues consistently voting for leaving the EU, ignoring the result of the referendum in Scotland where the majority backed remain.

Other issues highlighted include Scottish Tory MPs voting against free school meals for children and backing a stricter asylum system.

Black said: “If Douglas Ross and the Scottish Tory MPs were to be graded for their record at Westminster, they would be marked nothing short of an ‘F’ for fail.

“On some of the biggest issues – including Brexit, hostile immigration plans, protecting the NHS from being sold off, supporting struggling households and families, safeguarding our world-renowned food and agriculture sectors, protecting vulnerable child refugees, the power grab Internal Market Bill, and providing free school meals for hungry children – Douglas Ross and the Scottish Tory MPs have a stain on their record.

“Time and time again, Scotland’s spineless six have not just failed to stand up for Scotland’s interests – they have acted against them.”
