POLICE are appealing for information after a 20-year-old man was seriously assaulted in Elgin.

The victim was taken for treatment at Dr Gray’s Hospital after the incident occurred at about 11.40pm last night.

There had been an altercation between two groups near to Trinity Place.

Police Sergeant Alex Carle, of the Divisional Violence and Alcohol Reduction Unit, commented: “The 20-year-old victim suffered injuries to his leg and body and was treated at Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin before later being released. The injury is understood to have been caused by a weapon.

“One of the groups involved were travelling in a grey Audi A3 car.  The other group were using a silver Mercedes. Both groups are believed to have been in McDonald's, Linkwood Place, Elgin prior to the incident.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time or who captured the incident on dash cam footage to come forward.”
