SCOTLAND did not vote for Brexit, so whenever the deal or no deal is announced, supporters of Scottish independence will release an online social media campaign – #WeDidntVoteForThis and gather outside the Scottish Parliament to protest the day after the announcement at 1pm.

The socially distanced demonstration and online campaign are being co-ordinated by the Edinburgh Yes Hub along with Yes for EU and All Under One Banner.

Organisers are making it clear to would-be protesters that they must download and complete the Scottish Government’s Covid App, must register beforehand to control numbers, must not travel across council boundaries (to comply with current Covid regulations) and must be ready to stay two metres apart outside Holyrood, where stewards will also be on duty.

Mike Blackshaw of Edinburgh Yes Hub said: “Covid restrictions make it very hard for Scots to mobilise and demonstrate but we are determined that a Brexit deal (or worse a No Deal), which every council area of Scotland rejected in 2016, should not be allowed to pass without protest.”

Morag Williamson of Yes for EU said: “Boris Johnson told his supporters that devolution has been a disaster. This is a massive insult to the majority of Scots of all political persuasions, who continue to support devolved powers and want to stay in the EU. The best way to secure a better future for Scotland is via independence. Like other small nations we will govern ourselves and become a respected partner in Europe.’”
