SCOTLAND has recorded 51 deaths from coronavirus and 958 positive cases in the past 24 hours, Nicola Sturgeon has confirmed.

The death toll under this measure – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – is now 3848.

Speaking at the start of First Minister’s Questions at Holyrood, Sturgeon said the daily test positivity rate is 4.3%, down from 4.5% yesterday.

A total of 97,720 people have tested positive in Scotland, up from 96,762 the previous day.

There are 982 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus, a fall of nine in 24 hours.

Of these patients, 69 are in intensive care, up by one.
