A FURTHER 37 coronavirus deaths have been recorded in Scotland, according to the latest Scottish Government figures.

Speaking from the Covid-19 briefing in Edinburgh, Health Secretary Jeane Freeman said the total number of people to die after testing positive for the virus in the previous 28 days has now reached 3676.

The Health Secretary said that there have been 969 new Covid-19 cases recorded over the last 24 hours, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 93,155.

The new cases accounted for 4% of all tests carried out. There were 315 new cases in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 201 in Lanarkshire and 121 in Lothian. The remaining cases were spread across nine other health board areas.

Freeman added that there were 1099 people in hospital with coronavirus, a decrease of 26 on the previous day, and 80 people in intensive care, a decrease of 10.

The Health Secretary also discussed the latest quarantine rules. A 14-day quarantine period has been reinstated for travellers into Scotland from Estonia and Latvia.

People entering the country from the two Baltic states must self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival as of 4am tomorrow.

The Scottish Government said it comes after a “significant increase in cases” of coronavirus.
