A SCOTTISH illustrator has created a series of independence-themed Christmas gifts for the 2020 festive season.

Glasgow-based Claire Barclay’s indyref2 and pro-EU cards and decorations feature her distinctive drawing style and traditional Christmas symbols like holly and tartan.

The National:

The artist, whose designs celebrate the “cheeky and fun elements” of Scottish culture, is selling cards which read “All I want for Christmas is indyref2”, “All I want for Christmas is EU” and a piece celebrating the First Minister as “Lil’ Saint Nic’.

The National:

Other Scottish-themed Christmas designs include a Yes Sir I Can Boogie card – inspired by Scotland’s recent Euro qualifier – and the Duke of Wellington statue wearing a festive version of his cone hat.

The National:

The artist told The National: "I decided to make some gifts themed around independence as my brand is all about celebrating all things Scottish and I'd definitely take indyref2 for my Christmas.

"The designs have gone down a treat so there are plenty of folk out there who appear to want the same!"

Barclay’s products are ready to dispatch in 3-5 business days – so still plenty of time left to get some ready for Christmas.
