LAMENT for Sheku Bayoh, a new co-production from National Theatre of Scotland, Edinburgh International Festival and Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh, is to be streamed live to audiences.

Hannah Lavery’s theatrical exploration of race, identity and the death of Sheku Bayoh in police custody in 2015 will be performed live on stage at Edinburgh’s Lyceum Theatre and streamed to audiences at home on November 20 and 21.

The 31-year-old gas engineer, husband and father of two died on May 3, 2015, in his home town Kirkcaldy, Fife.

Lament for Sheku Bayoh is described as an artistic response to this tragedy, an expression of grief at the loss of the human behind the headlines and a non-apologetic reflection on identity and racism in Scotland.
