POLICE have launched a probe after an SNP MP collided with a teenage motorcyclist outside of a Scottish school.

Angus MacNeil was involved in an accident with a young biker outside Castlebay Community School on the Isle of Barra.

The SNP MP for the Na h-Eileanan an Iar (formerly the Western Isles) was driving a Ford Focus.

MacNeil was spoken to by police on Friday evening following the incident, but no charges have been brought against him.

The 17-year-old boy riding the motorbike was apparently taken to hospital with a broken leg.

The Scottish Sun reported that relatives fear he faces a long battle to recover because of the severity of the injuries.

MacNeil said: “It’s a serious incident. I’m very concerned about it.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said enquiries are still ongoing.

They added: “About 7.08pm on Friday, 30 October, 2020, a two vehicle road traffic crash happened outside Castlebay Community School, Castlebay, Isle of Barra.

“A Ford Focus car was in collision with a motorcycle. The male rider was taken to hospital with a leg injury.

"The driver of the car was uninjured.”
