THE deaths of 25 more people have been announced in the latest official coronavirus figures.
It brings the total number of fatalities to 2,726 of patients who have died after testing positive for the infection.
However, under a separate reporting system 4,376 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
To date 46% of Covid-19 registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 47% in hospitals and 7% were at home or non-institutional settings. The latest National Records of Scotland figures date to 14 October.
Today, the Scottish Government revealed that 1,327 new cases of the virus have been reported.
A total of 1,100 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed infections, including 82 people in intensive care.
There were 17,143 new tests for Covid 19 that reported results – 8.7% of these were positive, according to figures published today.
South Lanarkshire has the highest rate of infections in Scotland over the past week, with North Lanarkshire having the second highest rate.
Figures released by Public Health Scotland found the former had a rate of 388 cases per 100,000 population with North Lanarkshire rate at 344.
Glasgow's rate for the last week stood at 322 per 100,000 population while Edinburgh had a rate of 92 per 100,000.
The figures were published this afternoon ahead of a debate and vote in Holyrood later today on the proposed new five tier system of local alerts.
Under the plans different levels of restrictions could be imposed on the 32 Scottish council areas depending on the prevalence of the virus.
Level 0 is close to normal while Level 4 is nearing the type of lockdown seen across Scotland this Spring.
