THE country is currently in the grip of a global pandemic and news headlines have correctly focused on dealing with this. However, with days a deal has to be struck with the EU or the devastating consequences of a No-Deal will follow. I am convinced No-Deal is the preferred option of the Prime Minister, but Scotland simply can’t afford such an outcome.

EU negotiations have been extended till tomorrow, a date that has to see a deal to allow ratification before the transition period runs out and a no-deal becoming the outcome. How could any serious government inflict a No-Deal Brexit on the country, with all the cost implications attached, in the midst of a global pandemic? It beggars belief.

A No-Deal Brexit will have massive cost implications for business and individuals, food prices and tariffs, all affecting jobs and everyday living. Food price rises will affect us all and have devastating consequences for those dependant on food banks, considering their increased use during this pandemic.

Who will fill this gap, who will feed the hungry? The Westminster government by their arrogance are threatening to take the country to the brink as time is running out! Those extended negotiations are serious, and the country simply cannot afford for them to fail.
