ANOTHER 316 Scots have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 46,715.

No deaths were reported of people who tested positive but the Scottish Government stressed that Register Offices are now generally closed at weekends.

The data found 62 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed Covid-19 and 703 people were in hospital.

It comes as tens of thousands of people are facing delays in getting their test results after a problem at the UK Government Lighthouse facility in Glasgow.

A statement on the Scottish Government's website today said it had been notified "late last week of a testing capacity issue" at the city laboratory.

It said that the issue meant around 64,000 tests from across the UK, including Scotland, will be rerouted this weekend to other testing centres in the UK and Northern Ireland.
