NICOLA Sturgeon is the best-rated party leader in Scotland - and the men at the helm of her three main rivals are in negative numbers.

The results come from the poll released today from Ipsos MORI’s Scottish Political Monitor, which is run in partnership with STV News and also revealed record support for independence.

They also reveal Sturgeon’s personal ratings are "extremely positive", with 72% of the Scottish public "satisfied" with her performance and 24% dissatisfied. That makes for a net satisfaction rating of 49%.

The other three main party leaders clocked negative ratings of -25% for Leonard, -17% for Tory head Douglas Ross and -1% for Willie Rennie of the LibDems.

However, within that many people said they did not know whether or not they were happy with job done by these men, leading Ipsos to suggest they are "struggling to cut through" with the public at all.

As for Westminster, 76% slated Boris Johnson's performance - the lowest level ever recorded for the PM in Scotland by the pollsters.

Just 19% are satisfied him and 5% don't know what to think.

In contrast, Labour's Keir Starmer recorded a 16% overall approval rating - 44% are happy with him, but a third aren't and another third are unsure.

Emily Gray, managing director of Ipsos MORI Scotland, said: "Of course we are still a long way out from next May’s Holyrood elections, but SNP support currently looks very strong, buoyed by Nicola Sturgeon’s high satisfaction ratings among Scottish voters."
