JEANE Freeman has corrected Alex Cole-Hamilton on his claim that the SNP are not involving other parties in tackling coronavirus.

Cole-Hamilton, the LibDems' health spokesperson said the last time he was invited to a meeting was when Catherine Calderwood was Chief Medical Officer.

He tweeted: "Interesting fact about @theSNP  approach to consensus & involvement of other parties in their Covid strategy: The last time they invited me to meet with the Chief Medical Officer, that CMO was still Catherine Calderwood and it was in March. I’m the Shadow Health Secretary."

But Freeman said this is not true, saying Jason Leitch offered a briefing to all party leaders on Wednesday.

She tweeted: "2things. CMO offered briefing to all party leaders on same day next 16 day measures were announced in Parliament. Before that, I have offered meeting with all party health spokespeople. See you then @agcolehamilton"

From last night pubs and restaurants across the five health board areas in the central belt were closed until October 26. Across the rest of the country, licensed premises were banned from serving alcohol indoors and were told they could only open inside from 6am to 6pm.

They are permitted to serve alcohol outside until 10pm. The new rules come in addition to a Scotland-wide ban on indoor visits to other people’s homes.
