A LABOUR MP was filmed cleaning her glasses with a surgical face mask during a Commons debate on planning reform this week.

Siobhain McDonagh, the MP for Mitcham and Morden, was positioned behind Andrew Slaughter as he spoke on the issue in Parliament and could be seen wiping down the glasses with the mask.

Social media users quickly picked up on the unbelievable scene, with Twitter user Lisa Wright posting the footage online and adding: "Hope this MP hasn’t previously used this mask or is planning to use it."

One person added: "Heaven help us if this is the mentality of our MPs."

If a person wants a face covering to provide protection from germs, there are key tips to remember when putting on and removing them.
