ANOTHER 697 people have contracted coronavirus in Scotland, the First Minister has announced.

The new cases represent 12.8% of newly tested individuals and bring the total to 32,906.

No deaths were recorded in the daily figures, though registration offices are closed on Sunday. Four further deaths were announced over the weekend, bringing the toll among confirmed patients diagnosed in the previous 28 days to 2530.

Last night, 218 people were in hospital with confirmed Covid-19, eight more than 24 hours previously.

Of those, 22 were in intensive care, no change on the day before.

Of the new cases, 242 are in Greater Glasgow, 145 are in Lothian and 130 are in Lanarkshire.

The other 180 cases are spread across nine health boards.

One the death toll, Nicola Sturgeon said: "That total reminds us, again, that this virus can have a deadly impact, and of course, I want to pass my condolences again to everyone that has lost someone."
