Ghosts (BBC1, 8:30pm)

ALISON and Mike hope their next event booking is just around the corner and securing it could be very important to their future. Unfortunately, their efforts to get as organised as possible threaten to expose disturbing facts about the captain’s past – and he makes it very clear he would rather they stop their plans immediately. Thomas and Julian are also unsympathetic to their hosts’ plight – they’re more concerned about how they and the rest of the ghosts will be spending their evening.

In the Face of Terror (BBC2, 9pm)

EACH episode of this three-part series tells the story of the ordinary people searching for truth and justice after terrorist atrocities. The final programme will focus on the aftermath of the attack on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, last year when white supremacist Brenton Tarrant murdered more than 50 people. Before that, the families of British and American hostages held in Syria by a terror cell dubbed “the Beatles”, due to their UK origins, discuss what happened to their loved ones. They also reveal their tireless efforts to find their relatives.

Me, My Brother and Our Balls (BBC1, 9pm)

LOVE Island star Chris Hughes had a testicular examination on live television to raise awareness of testicular cancer and encourage men to check themselves. He didn’t expect was the effect it would have close to home – Chris’s older brother Ben checked himself for the first time, found a lump and was diagnosed with cancer. Before an operation to have his testicle removed, Ben wanted to freeze his sperm but learnt his sample didn’t contain any.

999: What’s Your Emergency? (C4, 9pm)

IT seems there are few things the British TV viewer enjoys more than programmes about people in need of help from the emergency services. How else could we explain the large number of programmes about ambulance crews, hospital staff, rescuers and the police? Back for its 11th run, this offering starts with an insight into antisocial behaviour on our high streets. Stories featured include that of a homeless man who has taken shelter in a shop in Northamptonshire after being threatened.
