CAMPERS have trashed a beauty spot and abandoned bags of white powder, rubbish and tents, as well as chopping down trees.

More than 100 beer bottles were left at the site, on the south shore of Loch Tummel near Pitlochry, Perth and Kinross.

A gazebo was also abandoned as well as camping chairs and sleeping bags, the ground was scorched by a campfire and plastic bottles were strewn around following a party.

It was a shock to neighbours who had painstakingly cleared up 300kg of rubbish last Friday – only to discover on Tuesday there had been a party over the weekend.

Mum of two, Jennifer Macintyre, handed packets of white powder over to police.

She said: “It’s just a total lack of respect and not what wild camping is about.

“It’s been escalating year on year, yet this year after lockdown was the worst.

“Around this time of year you usually get a decline but it’s still an issue.

“We’ve been sworn at in the past and when you drive down at night people are staggering about, spewing into the bushes and music’s blasting.

“It’s not what you expect to see in a beautiful scenic area.

“We’ve previously found lots of nitrous oxide canisters and a mobile phone with drug deals on it.”
