Fire crews were called to Govan this morning around 6am. 

Six appliances rushed to the scene on Elder Street and a number of residents were evacuated and treated for smoke inhalation. 

One man has been taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital as a precaution.

Firefighters remain at the scene as they work to extinguish the blaze. 

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were in attendance after receiving reports at 6.12am.

It comes just days after a fire at a home on the same street. 

A 52-year-old man was hospitalised after a blaze around 9pm on Sunday.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman: "A number of residents were evacuated from the flats and were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

"At this time, only aware of one man - no age - that has been taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital as a precaution.

"Residents have been allowed back in to their flats except for the occupants of a ground floor flat where the fire originated."

Officers are continuing investigations into the cause of the blaze.
