COPS have ramped up patrols in the South Side as they continue to probe the murder of a Glasgow man.

Officers investigating the death of Omar Sadiq, who was found injured on Boydstone Road on Tuesday, say they are following a positive line of enquiry.

The 32-year-old died a short time later in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Chief Inspector Shaheen Baber, area commander for South West Glasgow, has now moved to reassure locals there is no wider threat.

Sadiq was previously linked to race-hate killers Imran Shahid, his brother Zeeshan Shahid and Faisal Mushtaq, who were all sentenced to life in November 2006 after being found guilty of killing Kriss Donald, 15.

The teenager was stabbed and set on fire in 2004.

CI Baber said: "Detectives are continuing to follow a positive line of enquiry into the murder of 32-year-old Omar Sadiq, which took place in Boydstone Road on Tuesday, 15 September.

"Additional uniformed patrols are continuing in relevant local areas of the south side of the city, with officers engaging with communities and providing reassurance."

Anyone with information is asked to call officers on 101.
