PUPILS at an East Dunbartonshire school have scaled new heights in a marathon challenge.
Youngsters from Bishopbriggs Academy have been putting their best foot forward as they coin in cash for Glasgow-based Beatson Cancer Charity.
The ‘Off the Beatson track’ walk has seen schoolkids of all ages attempting to climb some of the world’s best known mountains, all in a Covid-safe manner.
The generous pupils have so far raised £5383 with donations still to be counter.
PE teacher John McCue, who organised the event, said: “Everyone had a great day.
“We reached the equivalent distance of Mont Blanc by around lunchtime, which shows how much effort the school community has put in to this challenge.
“I think it helped that we had great weather today.
“We’re now going to do our best over the weekend to log our runs, walks and cycles on strava to reach the distance to Mount Everest.
“Whatever we achieve this weekend we have raised over five thousand pounds for a very worthy cause and we will keep pushing to raise even more.”
Headteacher Gordon Moulsdale said: “It’s always an event the pupils and staff in our school look forward to taking part in.”
If you would like to donate to the pupils’ efforts and raise money for the Beatson Cancer Charity, donations can be made here.
