HOSPITAL workers at two Greater Glasgow hospitals are self-isolating after testing positive for coronavirus.
A small number of staff from the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital’s Medical High Dependency Unit tested positive recently. The unit is fully operational after being deep cleaned.
Close contacts of those who tested positive have been identified and told to self-isolate.
Meanwhile at the Royal Alexandria Hospital in Paisley, staff working in the Referral Management Team and the Medical Records team have tested positive.
Close contacts have been identified and told to self-isolate for 14 days.
The Herald reported the cases after NHS Greater Glasgow confirmed them.
A spokesperson for the health board said staff are reminded to socially distance and follow infection control procedures.
The news comes as 203 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Scotland over 24 hours.
Speaking at the daily briefing today, the First Minister said 69 of those cases were in the Greater Glasgow area – where restrictions on visiting households are currently in place.
She warned that “hard, but necessary” decisions are likely to come for Scotland in the coming days.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
