EVERY day in The National we publish one of the best photographs our readers have sent in from across Scotland. Here are last week's:
This glorious shot of a low-hanging rainbow over Loch Lomond was captured by amateur photographer Cat Perkinton on one of her regular walks around the area.
Reader Colin Rankin said of this photo: “Since the start of lockdown we’ve seen so much more wildlife in the garden but it’s never when the camera is to hand.
“Today, thankfully, I managed the get some images of this little fella.”
Laura Smith took this great shot of her boyfriend Craig walking into the rainbow after a rainstorm in Portnahaven, Islay.

Allan Merry took this great shot of one of the houses at Scara Brae on Orkney, with the Bay of Skaill behind.
Neil McKay took this great shot in morning light looking south to Knoydart from below the saddle in Glenshiel, with Ladhar Beinn in cloud, after a night scramble of the Forcan.
This fantastic shot was sent in by Colin Rankin, who managed to snap the scene while visiting Skye. He’d been trying to capture it for 24 hours, waiting for cloud and mist to clear.
“Finally they lifted long enough to get this shot before it started to rain ... sometimes stubbornness wins out!” Colin said.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
