ANOTHER 161 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Scotland, the First Minister has announced.

The new cases represent 1.9% of newly test individuals, bringing the total to 22,039.

No deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours among people who have tested positive for the virus, meaning the toll among confirmed patients remains 2499.

Some 266 people are in hospital with confirmed Covid-19, eight fewer than yesterday.

Of those, seven are in intensive care, an increase of one.

Of the new cases, 65 were in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 46 were in Lanarkshire, 12 were in Lothian and eight were in Ayrshire and Arran.

The other 30 cases were spread across eight health boards.

Nicola Sturgeon, speaking in the Scottish Parliament, said: “I want to send my condolences again to everyone who has lost loved ones to this virus."
