ARMANDO Iannucci, creator of The Thick of It, said it no longer became feasible to produce the Westminster satire because real-life politics had become too farcical to be parodied.

That was back in 2018, when Theresa May coughed her way through a party conference speech with the set falling to pieces behind her.

But every day it seems Westminster descends further into farce.

Today, the Prime Minister well and truly jumped the shark.

A day after one of his ministers admitted the Government’s Brexit plans will break international law, Boris Johnson insisted everyone must stick to the rules.

Speaking at Prime Minister’s Questions, LibDem MP Munira Wilson asked: “If minister’s think it is acceptable for this government to not obey the law, how on earth can the Prime Minister expect the public at home to do so?”

Johnson stated: “We expect everybody in this country to obey the law.”
