THERE have been 156 new coronavirus cases confirmed in Scotland overnight, the First Minister said.
Of those, 86 cases were confirmed in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area where new restrictions have been implemented to limit the spread of the virus.
People in the city cannot visit others’ households, with the First Minister saying data shows coronavirus is being spread there largely through indoor gatherings.

Nicola Sturgeon told FMQs: “The level of Covid is high and rising and giving we know the toll we can take doing nothing was not an option.
"Unlike the pub-based cluster in Aberdeen, data suggests transmission is happening mainly in people's homes."
The First Minister added that there has been one further death of a person who tested positive for Covid-19.
The full regional breakdown of new positive Covid-19 tests show 26 cases are in the NHS Lanarkshire area, 16 are in the NHS Lothian area, six are in NHS Ayrshire and Arran and the remainder are spread across the rest of the country.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
