ANOTHER 51 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Scotland, the First Minister has announced.

The new cases represent 0.6% of those tested in the past 24 hours and bring the total to 20,107.

No further deaths were recorded in the daily update, meaning the total among confirmed patients remains 2494.

Of the new cases, provisional information suggests 10 were in Tayside, 14 were in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, three were in Lanarkshire, and two were in Grampian. The remaining 22 cases are spread across six other health boards.

A total of 255 people were last night in hospital with Covid-19, two fewer than the day previously. Of those, three were in intensive care, an increase of one.

Nicola Sturgeon, speaking at the Scottish Government’s briefing said: "My condolences again go to everybody who has suffered loss, because these figures every day are a reminder of the impact the virus has had."

The FM also provided an update on the clusters across Scotland.

The number of cases associated with the 2 Sister’s factory in Coupar Angus is now 177, 11 more than yesterday. Of those, 157 are workers, 20 are contacts of workers. All new cases were among workers, with no evidence of wider community transmission.

In Dundee, the cluster linked with Kingspark school has increased by two cases, rising to 36. Of those who have tested positive, 22 are staff, 11 are contacts of staff and three are pupils. Again, there is no evidence of wider community transmission.

The Aberdeen outbreak remains “under control”, with 263 cases linked to the city centre pub cluster. In Grampian as a whole, 10 more cases have been identified, bringing the total to 447.

In Hawick, four more cases have been identified, bringing the total to 11.
