THERE have been 68 positive coronavirus cases identified in Scotland over the past 24 hours, the First Minister has said.

Nicola Sturgeon told the daily briefing that accounted for 0.4% of all people newly tested.

Sturgeon said the provisional information is that 15 are in Tayside, where there has been an outbreak linked to the 2 Sisters plant. More than 5000 people in Tayside have been tested since the outbreak came to the Scottish Government’s attention last week.

She added that 21 cases are in Greater Glasgow, eight are in Lanarkshire, and nine are in Grampian.

The First Minister told viewers that there are 257 patients in hospital with coronavirus, an increase of eight on yesterday.

However, there have been no further deaths of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 28 days, meaning the figure under that measurement remains 2494.

Sturgeon added that the latest estimate of the R number is between 0.8-1.2, meaning it is unchanged from the previous estimate.
