ALL Under One Banner’s static demonstration on Bannockburn Field is going ahead next Wednesday, August 19, with full safety measures in place. The organisation, which has successfully held marches and rallies for independence all over Scotland in recent years, has adapted its usual format in view of the coronavirus pandemic restrictions.

An appeal has been made on its website for people to register to attend the demonstration. It says: “Until phase four @AUOBALBA will hold one static rally for independence every month. The next physically distanced demo will take place on Wednesday, August 19, on Bannockburn Field.”

AUOB added: “Each of these demos will have a limited number of participants. The demos will be static and socially distanced and participants will be supplied with masks, gloves and sanitising hand gel.”

At the time when the static demonstrations were announced, AUOB organiser Neil Mackay said: “The events of 2020 so far have underlined that AUOB is a dynamic organisation which can respond quickly and effectively to any circumstances.

“In 2014 the No campaign thought they had buried us. In March this year, others thought that the current crisis would end our campaign.

“They could not have been more wrong. The only way that Scotland will regain its independence is to be bold, to be brave, and to be imaginative and that is what All Under One Banner is about. You don’t change the world by asking.”
