AUGUST 14 should be remembered as a day when so many artists in the Scottish Music Scene really started showing off.
The talent has long-been there for all to see but so many bands and solo acts are beginning to develop and produce some truly outstanding material.
There may well be a few contenders for song of the year out today...
Siiga – Sleep Fast
Skye’s finest unveils the second track from the upcoming album Gemini Rising.
One-line-review: “A track that fully embraces the dark – a journey unto itself.”

Tamzene – Don’t Say a Word (from Intro EP)
Another wonderful track from one of the country’s biggest talents – a stunning EP, with Don’t Say a Word standing out, just.
One-line review: “A haunting tear-jerker from a truly gifted songwriter.”
FFO: Cara Rose, Celeste, Fourth Daughter.
Red Twin – Orange Sea
Dundee alt-pop pairing follow-up on this year’s other release Mango.
One-line-review: “Groove-laden electro-pop rock with hooks aplenty.”
FFO: Swim School, Vistas, Franz Ferdinand.
The Roly Mo – Control Yourself
A second release of the year for the Glasgow outfit.
One-line-review: “A fine example of straight-laced driving garage rock.”
FFO: Voodos, The Rah’s, Retro Video Club.
DENI – Let’s Build Houses
Here it is: The final chapter in the four-part tale from the folk-pop quartet.
FFO: Scarlett Randle, Cameron Barnes,
One-line-review: “A poignant end to this opening story; truly beautiful vocals and fitting instrumentation.”
Cameron Ledwidge – Sometimes in Love
This star in the making turned heads with his first release, but Sometimes in Love is different class.
One-line-review: “Emotional and magnificent – striking harmonies and floaty melodies.”
FFO: Aaron Smith, Dylan John Thomas, Alicia-Deanna.
Vansleep – Chambers
Granite City four-piece follow up from the release of Acid Weather earlier this year.
One-line-review: “A shade darker and all the better for it – raw, powerful and infectious.”
FFO: Pure Grief, Forgetting the Future, Leaving Bordeaux.
Savage Mansion – Third Lanark (released Aug 12).
Prolific Glasgow band return just a few months after releasing their Weird County album.
One-line review: “Strong county and indie vibes with some tasty guitar licks on top.”
FFO: Katee Kross, RAAB, Modern Studies.
