PEOPLE in Scotland are more likely to wear a face covering than those in England and Wales, a new poll has found.

Three-quarters (75%) of people living in Scotland said they had worn a face covering in the last two weeks, compared to 65% in England and just 43% in Wales.

Wales is the only British nation where face coverings are not required in shops, but they are mandatory on public transport.

The YouGov survey is part of a series focused on differences in pandemic behaviours between Scotland, Wales and England.

They were also the most likely to support decisions taken by their government including stopping inbound flights (38% vs 31% in Scotland) and temporarily closing schools (29% vs 22% in Scotland).

However the survey was conducted in late July, prior to the recent coronavirus outbreak in Aberdeen.

People in England were the least likely to back quarantining people or putting areas into local lockdown (30%) compared to 39% in Scotland.

England also had the least support for quarantining people who had come into contact with a contaminated patient (65%) vs 75% in Scotland.
