A fundraiser has been launched for the family of a Glasgow man after he sadly lost a battle against cancer.

Arthur Black's mother Anna, who cared from him until he passed away, described the 58-year-old as a man on the outside but a young child on the inside.

Complications aroused for treatment to Arthur's cancer and his understanding of the prognosis due to his autism and learning difficulties.

Anna, now 80, has looked after Arthur her whole life as his carer.

She had an insurance policy in place but for him but it was a few weeks short of the time required to pay out the amount expected. She now faces the financial struggles involved with her son's funeral.

The local community has now set up an online fundraiser in a bid to cover the costs of his send-off.

A statement about Arthur has described him as a "gentle" and "peaceful" man.

It reads: "He loved his X-Box and Playstation games.

"In fact, people could hear him playing his games from the street as he often became overly excited.

"Arthur was frequently seen walking to the local shop for his bottle of Irn Bru which he couldn't do without. Arthur was a gentle, peaceful man that would stop to talk to anyone and ask how they were doing."
