NICOLA Sturgeon has said while she is “envious” of the Prime Minister’s plan to reportedly take a two-week holiday in Scotland, she has no intention to take a “staycation” herself.

The Sunday Times reported the Prime Minister and his family will be coming north of the Border for a break next weekend.

At the Scottish Government daily briefing, the First Minister was asked if she would be doubling up with Boris Johnson.

She joked that Johnson’s partner wouldn’t be too happy with that, before explaining why she won’t be enjoying a holiday any time soon.

“I don’t have any plans for a holiday at the moment,” she told the briefing. “I’m pretty fully occupied on what we’re dealing with right now.

“Obviously our parliamentary recess times are different to the House of Commons as well, so Parliament goes back tomorrow, earlier than normal … so I think I’ll probably have enough to occupy myself.”

The First Minister also reminded Johnson to follow Scotland's FACTS guidance while on his break.

Johnson previously spoke about allowing a “brief staycation to creep into the agenda, if that’s possible” when quizzed about his summer plans.

It comes after other MPs have come unstuck due to quarantine restrictions imposed on visitors returning from overseas destinations.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps was in Spain when the UK’s most popular holiday destination was struck off the safe list of travel destinations, while minister for London Paul Scully was in Lanzarote.
