A FURTHER 29 coronavirus cases have been found in Scotland over the last 24 hours, according to the latest Scottish Government figures.
Speaking at the Scottish Government’s daily briefing, Nicola Sturgeon gave a breakdown of the latest numbers.
The First Minister said the 29 new positive cases account for 0.8% of all people tested yesterday.
The provisional information indicates 18 of the new cases are in the Grampian health board area.
Sturgeon added that there are six more people in hospital with coronavirus, while the number of people in intensive care is three – the same as yesterday.
She said there have been no further deaths of people who have received a positive coronavirus test in the last 28 days.
The First Minister also gave an update on the outbreak in Aberdeen. The city faces tighter lockdown restrictions because of the cluster linked to more than 25 hospitality venues.
She said since July 26 a total of 231 coronavirus cases have been identified in the Grampian health board area. It is thought 157 of those are linked to the cluster.
More than 850 contacts have been identified. “That helps to give some idea of the scale of the tracing exercise which is now in place,” the First Minister said.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
