A DEMONSTRATION across Scotland tomorrow will see a number of venues turning red to signal the problems facing the live events industry as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Scottish venues will be joining a UK-wide call to action over job losses by turning their lights red to symbolise the live events industry going into red alert.

The Edinburgh International Conference Centre, Scottish Opera headquarters in Glasgow, and McCaigs Tower in Oban are just a few of the thousands of venues across the UK raising awareness of the entire live events supply chain and the Scottish jobs at risk.

The call to action hopes to raise awareness for over a million people in the industry at risk of losing their jobs in the next few weeks – 72 per cent of whom are self-employed freelancers. Industry experts say the cancellation of Edinburgh’s five arts festivals is the biggest casualty for the events supply chain.
