The National:

CHRISTOPHER Biggins has sparked fury after saying food is "terrible" in "Scotland and the provinces".

The forthcoming series of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! is to be filmed in the UK instead of Australia and will be broadcast live every night from a ruined castle in the countryside.

Ant and Dec will host the series as celebrities undertake gruelling trials and challenges to win food and treats in the lead-up to one of them being crowned king or queen of the castle, rather than the jungle.

But Biggins, who won the show in 2007, said getting the celebrities to taste Scottish food would be "terrifying" for them.

"There's a lot of Scottish food you could have which would be quite terrifying I think," he told ITV news. "Anywhere in the provinces there could be some terrifying food. I can think of a few things."

Biggins did not specify what those foods were. Haggis? Shortbread? Aberdeen Angus Beef? Cullen skink?
