A FURTHER 23 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in Scotland over the last 24 hours, Scottish Government figures have shown.
There have been no deaths among people who have received a positive coronavirus test for 19 consecutive days, meaning the number of people to die under that measure has remained at 2491 for more than two weeks.
Nicola Sturgeon said that of all those who received coronavirus tests yesterday just 0.9% tested positive.

There were 270 people in hospital with confirmed Covid-19, an increase of five on yesterday, and one more person in intensive care with the virus taking that total to four.
Sturgeon said that 15 new cases had been identified in the Grampian area, but it was currently unclear whether these were linked to a cluster in Aberdeen.
She told the Scottish Government briefing: “Investigations are ongoing and we will provide more details as and when they become available.”
The First Minister added that this new cluster is a reminder that the virus is still out there and remains “extremely infectious” and dangerous.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
