MORAY MP Douglas Ross has confirmed he will stand for leader of the Scottish Conservatives.
Following the resignation of Jackson Carlaw, the MP made his announcement.
He says if he is successful in the contest he will stand as an MSP at next year’s Holyrood election.

Until then Carlaw’ predecessor will step in to represent the Scottish Tories at First Minister’s Questions.
In a statement, Ross said: “This is a crucial time in Scottish politics.
“We are months away from an important election, and need strong, decisive leadership of our party to take on and defeat the SNP in seats right across the country.”

Ross stepped down from the Scotland Office earlier this year amid the row over Dominic Cummings’s lockdown trip to Durham.
Boris Johnson met with him in his constituency last week during a trip to Scotland.
