SCOTLAND has gone 12 days without any new Covid-19 deaths, Nicola Sturgeon has said.
The First Minister gave the latest figures at the Scottish Government's coronavirus briefing in Edinburgh.
A total of 2491 patients have died in Scotland after testing positive for Covid-19.
Sturgeon said 18,558 people have tested positive for the virus, up by four from 18,554 the day before.
There were 264 people in hospital with confirmed Covid-19, down six in 24 hours.
Of these, two were in intensive care, which was no change on the previous day.
Speaking during the briefing Sturgeon warned that with Covid-19 cases rising across Europe people should be aware that if booking overseas holidays, the rules can change very quickly.
She said the “safest” way to avoid that would be to holiday in Scotland.
It came after the Scottish and UK governments changed the rules so people coming into Scotland from Spain must self-isolate for two weeks.
Cases in Spain have surged in recent weeks, and all four UK nations have changed the rules on travelling to and from the country.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
