The National:

WESTMINSTER has a track record of failing to understand Scots, but this latest example really takes the biscuit.

Ian Blackford has issued a clarification after it seemed he'd inadvertently pulled wool over the eyes of a Westminster Pets account.

The Twitter profile shares pictures of MPs posing with animals, such as ex-Libdem leader Tim Farron with his dog or Speaker Lindsay Hoyle with his home zoo.

But the account baffled Twitter users when it shared a picture of the SNP Westminster leader with a lamb.

It asked: “Anyone know what kind of dog this is?”

Blackford, who keeps a flock on his croft, offered a pretty convincing answer.

The SNP MP regularly shares images and videos of his sheep, including this one from earlier this year.

Reassuringly, Westminster Pets confirmed that the query about the lamb in question was indeed a joke.
