SCOTLAND has recorded no new Covid-19 deaths for an eighth consecutive day.
Scottish Government figures released this afternoon showed that a further 20 coronavirus cases had been confirmed in the last 24 hours.
The number of deaths of patients who had received a positive test for coronavirus remains at 2491.
These figures are different from the National Records of Scotland data, which reports deaths of patients with confirmed and suspected Covid-19.
Under that method of calculation, as of July 19, there had been 4193 coronavirus deaths in Scotland since the beginning of the pandemic.
As of last night there were two people in intensive care, and 278 people in hospital, with confirmed Covid-19.

There were 10 new suspected coronavirus cases in care homes.
The new figures were revealed as ministers said people travelling to Scotland from another five countries would not have to quarantine for two weeks upon arrival.
From Tuesday July 28, passengers from Estonia, Latvia, Slovenia, Slovakia and St Vincent and the Grenadines will be exempt from quarantine rules.
The decision was made following a review of infection prevalence rates.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
