Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby (BBC2, 8pm)
GILES Coren and Monica Galetti roll up their sleeves to work in more of the most extraordinary hotels across the globe. The first episode of the new series sees the duo travel to the self-governing Chinese city of Macau, known as the gambling capital of the world. Monica joins the 6000 staff of a new super hotel while Giles flies through the air in one of the world’s most technologically advanced theatres.

Bake Off: The Professionals (C4, 8pm)
IT’S the quarter-final, with the five best teams returning for their most gruelling challenges yet. In the first round, they teams must create 24 macarons and 24 cocktail-inspired desserts, in just three-and-a-half hours. Then they must combine sugar and chocolate work to create a spectacular showpiece that incorporates an edible game.

The Rise of the Murdoch Dynasty (BBC2, 9pm)
IN 1952, at the age of 22, Rupert Murdoch inherited a chain of Australian newspapers following the death of his father and has gone on to become one of the most influential people in the media industry. But despite his reputation, wealth and success, Murdoch’s own tale has rarely been told – until now. This new three-part documentary series tells the story of the tycoon’s empire, interweaving Murdoch’s behind-the-scenes influence on world events with the personal battle for power within his own family. The programme begins in 1995, with a young Tony Blair flying halfway around the world to Murdoch’s private island looking for support to become Britain’s next Prime Minister.

Our Yorkshire Farm (C5, 9pm)
NEW series. Return of the documentary series following hill shepherds Amanda and Clive Owen and their nine children. This third series begins as the family bids farewell to Raven as she leaves for university. Four-year-old Clemmy is also about to start school – but is less keen on leaving the farm, especially since it means less time with her beloved pony Tony. The family all has to pull together when Clive goes into hospital for hip replacement surgery, preventing him from working on the farm as winter draws nearer.
