POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a five-vehicle crash left a woman with life-threatening injuries and several others hurt.
The collision, which involved three cars and two motorcycles, happened at about 4.30pm on Monday on the A7066 at the junction with the B792 in Bathgate.
Three people were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries while others with minor injuries were treated at the scene by ambulance crew.
The road was closed for around eight hours to allow a full scene investigation to take place.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them as they investigate the incident in the West Lothian town.
Inspector Andy Gibb, of Lothian Road Policing Unit, said: "This was a serious collision involving a number of vehicles and we are looking for anybody who was driving on the road or witnessed the incident to contact police.
"One woman has sustained life threatening injuries and I would urge anyone who has any information that could assist with our investigation to come forward.
"In particular, if there were any vehicles in the area at the time that may have dashcam footage that could help officers, I would ask that you get in touch."
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 2397 of Monday July 6, 2020.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
